Nutrition and Fitness
Laborers need to be physically fit to perform their jobs. Yet, achieving and maintaining a healthy diet and fitness program is difficult for many Laborers and their families.
Overweight and obesity are increasingly serious problems throughout the U.S. and Canada. Not only do these conditions diminish effectiveness on the job, they also contribute to chronic disease and inflate costs for LIUNA’s health & welfare funds.
The LHSFNA has many publications that address the risk factors and behaviors that contribute to weight problems and how to modify those behaviors. The Fund also has multiple publications on health conditions associated with being overweight – how to prevent them and how to treat them. Go to the online catalogue to see what is available.
