Prescription drugs have diversified, and their prices have risen sharply over the last several decades, greatly adding to the cost of health insurance for Laborers and LIUNA signatory employers. To reduce cost pressures on LIUNA Health & Welfare Funds and to improved pharmacy access for fund participants, the LHSFNA took the lead in establishing LaboreRx, a national prescription benefit management program that uses internet and mail order services to fill the prescription drug needs of Laborers and their families.
The Fund's Health Promotion Division also sustains a consistent education program about prescription and over-the-counter drugs.
