Injury & Illness Prevention Programs

A written Site Safety and Health Program shows a commitment to safety and brings a responsibility to implement the program as it is written. The LHSFNA’s Site Safety and Health Programs formalize a process to help LIUNA signatory employers:

  • Inspect the worksite regularly and correct any hazards
  • Conduct accident investigations
  • Train workers on the hazards they will face
  • Foster communication between employees and management
  • Maintain records of assessments, investigations, trainings, injuries and illnesses

Upon request, LHSFNA staff develop general programs and adapt existing programs tailored to specific states, municipalities or local ordinances where regulations differ significantly from federal OSHA. OSH Division staff also regularly customize programs to fit a specific jobsite or type of work performed by a LIUNA signatory contractor.
