“February is American Heart Awareness Month,” says LIUNA General Secretary Treasurer and LHSFNA Labor Co-Chairman Armand E. Sabitoni, “and a good time to learn about high blood pressure, a leading cause of heart disease. More Laborers die from heart disease and its related conditions – heart attack, stroke, heart failure – than any other illness or any workplace injury. ”

In its ongoing efforts to improve the health of LIUNA members and their families, the LHSFNA’s Health Promotion division is launching a series in LIFELINES focused on how to reduce the risk for high blood pressure. Many factors including diet, tobacco use, exercise and sleep can influence who develops high blood pressure. We will examine each.
