Sponsored by the American Psychological Association, the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) and the Society for Occupational Health Psychology, the 10th International Conference on Occupational Stress and Health opens May 16 at the Westin Bonaventure Hotel in Los Angeles, CA. The LHSFNA is a Conference Collaborator.
The Conference will give special attention to the concept of Total Worker Health. First coined by NIOSH, Total Worker Health is a new approach to workplace safety and health that acknowledges both work-related and off-the-job factors that contribute to the well-being of today’s workers. Sleep deprivation is an example. While it is a home and lifestyle health concern, it may have causes and implications associated with work. Isolating these situations in separate “silos” can limit the capacity to fully address either. With this perspective at its foundation, Total Worker Health seeks and promotes comprehensive, integrated programs to address both factors in coordinated fashion.
