The construction industry has one of the highest suicide rates of any industry. In 2020, the rate of suicide among workers in general industry was 9.5 per 100,000. In construction, the rate was 45 per 100,000, almost five times higher. Approximately 5,000 construction workers die by suicide each year. As a partner in the Construction Industry Alliance for Suicide Prevention (CIASP), the LHSFNA is committed to reducing the number of suicides in construction and helping LIUNA members get the help they need.
