The LHSFNA is proud to announce that Walter Jones, Associate Director of the Fund’s Occupational Safety & Health Division, will be the next Chairperson of the North America’s Building Trades Unions Safety & Health Committee.
North America’s Building Trades Unions (NABTU) comprise 14 affiliated national and international unions that collectively work towards creating a powerful voice for organized construction workers in government, at the bargaining table and in their communities. For almost a century, it’s been NABTU’s mission to develop and deploy the safest, most highly skilled and productive craft workforce found anywhere in the world.
“I’m honored to accept the role and look forward to advancing the Building Trades’ safety and health initiatives,” says Jones. “I’m excited to work hand in hand with other trades to overcome shared challenges and show that our signatory contractors provide the safest and most skilled workforce in construction.”
The NABTU Safety & Health Committee meets monthly to discuss issues affecting the safety and health of construction workers across the U.S. and Canada, including the health of LIUNA members. The Committee monitors ongoing regulatory issues at OSHA and also works closely with the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health, the Advisory Committee on Construction Safety and Health and other agencies.
We would like to congratulate Walter for being selected to lead this vital Committee and we are confident he’ll bring the same dedication to the role that he displays every day here at the LHSFNA.
